Cost of living

Groceries, transport, restaurants, and services are considerably cheaper than in Central Europe. Imported goods, electronics, and some European brands cost the same or more.

Practicalities

Healthcare is available through private clinics and covers everyday needs well; more complex procedures mean a trip to Cairo. The internet is fast and stable, which makes the city a workable base for remote work. There are several international schools.

Community

Hurghada has a settled Central European community — Slovak, Czech, and Hungarian among others. Most practical questions get answered there: where to shop, which tradesperson to trust, how to sort out residency. For a newcomer it's the fastest route to finding your feet.

What takes longest to get used to

A different pace for anything official, a different sense of punctuality, and the language. None of it is a barrier, but it's worth knowing in advance.
